Update from Kelly Emerick – Campus Crusade for Christ

Filed under: General — northwestchapelmissions @ 7:48 pm

KellyEmerick In about a month all the Campus Crusade for Christ staff in the entire country are going to be converging on Ft. Collins, CO for our bi-annual staff confer-ence. It’ll be a serious Jesus injection into this little college town at the foot of the Rockies. At the conference, we’ll be hearing from our leaders, as well as other spiri-tual leaders of the country as we all are refreshed, re-connected,

and re-focused on the mission God has called us to, to reach the world for Christ one person at a time.

I have come out a month early to go through new staff training and to take classes offered by Crusade to help sharpen my under-standing of God and the World. I am ex-cited to spend some focused time on study and being built into. Please pray for me, that I would take this very important material into my heart, and not just cram for tests .

I will be taking…

  • Introduction to Theology
  • Bible Study Methods

World View Surveys

For my Intro to Theology class we conducted a world view survey for a project. Our objective was to talk to people and get their opin-ions on different matters of Chris-tianity.

In order to get my assignment completed I sent out a message on Facebook asking people to fill out the survey. The response was

tremendous! I am excited to say that more people responded than I had hoped. I was even more ex-cited that some of the students that I have been working with sent me their responses.

In reading their answers I was amazed at the different views that each person held of Christianity. There were some who held a strong Christian world view and some that did not.

Needless to say, these surveys opened the door for me to talk with students about what they believe and why. I am excited to follow up the students that filled out the surveys. Please be praying with me as I do!

Prayer Requests

  • That I will be able to learn much from my time here at New staff Training in Colorado
  • Pray that my additional support will be raised quickly so I can get to my assignment in Orlando.
  • Pray that the Lord will use this summer to really speak to my heart and draw me closer to Him.
  • Pray for the students that I have talked to with the World View Surveys. Pray that I will be able to follow them up and talk to them more about what they think and view.
  • Pray for safe travels back from Colorado to my next destination.
  • Praise that the Lord has fulfilled my dream to serve Him on staff

Where will I be Going?

So it is true, I am now on staff with Campus Crusade for Christ! The Lord has blessed me with another

dream fulfilled! Where  will I be going you might ask! The answer to your question is the National Headquarters of Student Venture in Orlando, Florida!

The Lord has blessed me with the amazing opportunity of working with the International Projects and the Conference Administration departments! I will be impacting students lives in an even larger way than I have ever imagined!

In order for me to get to my new assignment I will need to raise some additional support! Please be praying with me that the Lord will bring new ministry partners alongside of me to partner in this amazing opportunity! Please be praying with me as I start on this journey that the Lord has given me! I am excited to see how He is going to deepen my faith and dependence on Him.

Mission Support Fundraising Report

Filed under: General — northwestchapelmissions @ 12:29 pm

As one of the more than 230 people attending the Fundraising

Banquet held on May 2, you will be interested in this early report.
As of the end of May, nearly $20,000 had been raised in one-time offerings and commitments.
This can be considered a good beginning in our quest for $60,000,
the goal established for 2009 by the Missions Ministry Action team,
with the support of the Elders, staff and Vision Community.
But, we have a long way to go to reach the total which is needed to fund this year’s planned expenditures for missionary activities, projects and daughter churches.
Enclosed with this report you will find a Missionary Support Pledge card and a Missions Offering envelope. If you have not already done so, I urge you to seek the Lord’s guidance as to how you respond to this need. The stub is for you to keep as a reminder and the card itself can be dropped in an offering plate or in one of the boxes at the back of the chapel. Your name is not required.
Thank you for your participation at the Fundraising Banquet and for your interest in the continuation and growth of our missionary activities.

Mission Support Fund $20k UpdateAs of the end of May, nearly $20,000 had been raised in one-time offerings and commitments.

Mission Support Fundraising Banquet Scheduled for May 2

Filed under: General — hartlecharles @ 3:00 am

A Mission Support Fundraising Banquet will take place at Northwest Chapel on Saturday, May 2.   The banquet, to be catered by Der Dutchman Restaurant of Plain City, will feature Pastor Steven Joyce and a choral group from their Washington DC church.  Admission tickets cost $5 per person and are available in the church Commons on Sundays and in the office daily.

This event is an outgrowth of the Spiritual Strategic Journey now in progress at Northwest Chapel.  The Missions Ministry Action team, along with the support of Elders, staff, and Vision Community, hopes it will appeal to attenders who wish to make specific contributions above and beyond their usual tithes and offerings to the church’s missions programs.   The banquet will give attenders an opportunity to become acquainted with the current missions expenditures and the opportunities to make significant additions to our commitment to fulfill the Great Commission spoken of by Jesus in Matthew 28:18-20.

The first year’s goal for the Mission Support Fund is $60,000 all of which will go to continue and increase funding we already provide to on-going missionary activities, projects and daughter churches of Northwest Chapel.

Missions Fair follow up

Filed under: General — northwestchapelmissions @ 6:34 am

Thanks to everyone for making our first Missions Fair a huge success.  We had over 7 tables of information, over 300 handouts about missions passed out, and a few sign-ups for upcoming missions trips.  The Commons were buzzing and everyone seemed excited about missions.  That’s great!!!!

Hopefully Pastor Martin was able to get some sleep after staying up until 3AM preparing materials!

A special thanks to Holly Tonti for putting it all together for us.  Thanks Holly!

Northwest Chapel Missions Overview

Filed under: General — northwestchapelmissions @ 9:53 am

A few people have asked recently for a brief overview of Northwest Chapel Missions.  Hopefully, this post will help.  Also, please attend the Missions Fair this Sunday March 8th in the Northwest Chapel Commons from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM to see and hear what the Lord is doing through our missions efforts.

First, we need to start with a definition.  At Northwest Chapel we differentiate Missions from Outreach based on geography and culture.  Sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ in word or action within the same geographic location and culture as Northwest Chapel is considered Outreach (e.g. Dublin Service Day).  Sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ in word or action to a different culture or different geographic location is considered Missions, (e.g. planting churches in New Albany, Ohio (different geography) or Grupo Amor Cristiano (different culture).

At Northwest Chapel we believe that the biblical means for bringing new people to Jesus Christ is through church planting.  It is in the church that we can continue to nurture new believers after accepting Christ and teaching them all that Jesus taught.  It is for this reason that Northwest Chapel engages in church planting as a means to fulfill the Great Commission and its mission of making more and better disciples on a worldwide basis.

The following are the areas of Missions for Northwest Chapel.

Vision Ohio
Please visit Vision Ohio’s website for more information.  Under the work of Vision Ohio Northwest Chapel has planted and supports through financial resources, supervision, and coaching the following churches.

  • London Grace Brethren Church, London, Ohio – Pastor Tim Reusch
  • Grupo Amor Cristiano, Dublin, Ohio – Pastor Phil Guerena
  • Clearview Grace Church, New Albany, Ohio – Pastor Andy Wirt

North America Daughter Church Network

Latin America Daughter Church Network

  • Baja California, Mexico Church Planting Movement, Ensenada Mexico – Pastor Teo Huerta
  • This movement has over 8 churches started over the last 4 years
  • Cuba Church Planting Movement
  • This movement has over 15 house churches across the country

Equipo Internacional

In some ways Northwest Chapel behaves as a missions organization. We have our own missionary and train and equip pastors and leaders in various areas.

  • Our missionary coordinator, Mariano Azcárate
  • Annual Conference of Pastors and Leaders in Tecate, Mexico
  • Various mini-conferences to train leaders, including the first ever Marriage Conference March 20-22
  • Collaborative church planting efforts with daughter churches

Northwest Chapel Mission Trips

Each year Northwest Chapel engages attenders with opportunities.  For more information about 2009 mission trips follow this link.

If you have questions about any of these ministry areas, please contact Pastor Martin Guerena or contact a member of the Missions MAT (Jon Baker, Chuck Hartle, Jonathan Price, Holly Tonti, Sam Williams).
